Death to Choice

That's right America, your elected representatives in the Senate have hammered another nail in the coffin on American Democracy.

The State of our Union is not strong;
and for that you must thank more than Dumbya.

Your Senators had the opportunity to rise up above the petty political wranglings of our current system. They had the chance to say no to a man most will agree doesn't represent the best interests of our Constitutional process.

Your choices are now officially, and soon to be permanently, less than what they were yesterday.

I know you all assume that I speak of reproductive rights.

True, those are most assuredly imperiled by the cowardice of the Senates confirmation of Alito. But that is only one in a long list of rightful choices you may now lose to the Supreme Court.

certainly my choice to marry my partner just moved further into oblivion. The choice to cast a vote just got more complicated. Your choice of President may have just been pre-determined by the Senate.

This speaks nothing of the evolving power of the Presidency itself. Our new Justice doesn't believe in the right to privacy. He doesn't believe the President has over-stepped his bounds by violating the 4th Amendment while spying on his own citizens!

This new judge no more respects the laws of the land than does his nominating President.

So for this and so many other mounting reasons I must concede that choice is a mortally wounded concept in America.

As such, no matter the words that come from his mouth tonight, I am here to tell you that the

"State of Our Union" is not strong!

In fact, it has never been weaker.

In November, cast your votes of thanks to the Senators that didn't see fit to defend the Constitution from this attack. Send them home where they can do no more harm.

We must take back this country while we can still recognize her!
